Dolphin Motorhomes announces acquisition of Hampshire & Dorset Motorcaravans in Christchurch

Dolphin Motorhomes are delighted to announce the acquisition of Hampshire & Dorset Motorcaravans in Christchurch, Dorset.

Hampshire & Dorset Motorcaravans was started by Ken Saunders in 1983 and this year the business celebrated thirty years of successful trading in the motorhome industry. Ken has decided to spend more time with his family and concentrate on his other passion which is playing the trumpet in the band 'Uptown Traffic'.

I would also like to say a big thank you to all of the staff who have supported me well and put the company on a great platform for the new owners. I wish Dolphin Motorhomes every success taking the business forward. I am delighted the company has been bought by Dolphin, as they have an excellent reputation for customer care along with great new and used products." commented Ken Saunders, former Managing Director of Hampshire & Dorset Motorcaravans.

The business will now trade as Dolphin Motorhomes Dorset and open seven days a week (all year round). All Motorhomes will be left unlocked to enable you to browse at your leisure and you will always be guaranteed a warm welcome in relaxed surroundings.

Dolphin Motorhomes already have a branch in Southampton which will now be known as Dolphin Motorhomes Hampshire. Although this branch was opened in 2003, the Willis family is celebrating their 40th year in the motorhome industry.

"For those of you who don’t know Dolphin, we are a family run business with an existing branch in Southampton. Due to its superb location, we have been interested in a Christchurch branch for a few years. I am delighted with our new acquisition and look forward to the challenge ahead.

I would like to wish Ken every success in his retirement.

I have only been here for a week and the number of customers who have just popped in for a coffee and to catch up with the staff has been incredible – the branch has a real feel for customer friendship. The level of repeat business and customer loyalty the company has enjoyed is real proof that Ken and his team have offered a superb level of service and vehicle choice – a familiar experience to what we have built at our Hampshire branch.

We plan to immediately invest heavily in the premises and customer facilities but you can be guaranteed the traditional values will remain the same. I am delighted all the existing staff have stayed with the company and their experience and attitude to deliver the best possible service was another attraction to purchasing this business.

Our Dorset branch will continue to offer the new Auto-Sleepers and Devon franchises which compliments the Autocruise, Autotrail and Swift products available at Southampton. This gives our customers even more choice as the ranges offer Volkswagen, Renault, Fiat, Peugeot and Mercedes base vehicles." said Managing Director, Josh Willis.
